Map designs have artistic qualities that are enhanced when made using the 3rd dimension. This exhibit shows 3D map models of places across the nation, along with a display on how to assemble one. "Build it Yourself" and completed kits are for sale.

Gregory Plumb

Gregory Plumb was born in a Flint, Michigan hospital in 1956 and raised in the nearby village of Linden. He recently retired from academics, whereby the Oklahoma State Regents awarded him Professor Emeritus status for his work as Professor and Chair of the Department of Cartography and Geography at East Central University. Greg is the author of "Waterfalls of the Pacific Northwest". Initially published in 1983, it is considered to be the first guidebook dedicated to the subject. He has since substantially revised and expanded the book four times which is now marketed as "Waterfall Lover's Guide to the Pacific Northwest". Greg is also the author of "Waterfalls of Tennessee", which is currently in its third edition. He holds degrees in geography from Central Michigan University (biology double-major), University of Idaho and two from the University of Kansas. Over his career he was an Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma and Adjunct Associate Professor at East Tennessee State University and served as GIS Director for the City of Johnson City, Tennessee. Greg is now retired from academics, although he continues to teach an online course in World Regional Geography for Murray State College. He also keeps busy with mapping and analysis projects as sole proprietor of Personalized Map Company (mymaps.com). He recently started a new passion with PMC, designing and creating "Build It Yourself" 3D Topographic Map Art Kits. He married his wife, Robin, in 1990. They have two grown children and two grown grandchildren and his other new passion: a new grandbaby. Robin and Greg currently reside in Oklahoma City.
